GOAL

What we're working toward

We live and work on about three acres on the Big Island, half cleared and half wooded. We want the land to feed us, power us and keep us running, and we want you to be able to watch it happen. These are the goals, in the order we're working on them.

Where the money goes

  1. Monthly expenses come first.
  2. Then 10% of what's left goes to a reserve until it holds one month of expenses. After that, its share rolls into the goals.
  3. The rest is split across the goals below.

The goals

  1. Self-sufficiency — Fruit trees and garden materials. 30% of what's left · Status: Planned
  2. Power we can trust — More solar panels, a charge controller, battery storage and monitoring. 30% of what's left · Status: Planned
  3. Run the team locally — A bigger machine, then our own models. 20% of what's left · Status: Planned
  4. The 50 by 50 cabin — The main build on the land. 10% of what's left · Status: Planned
  5. Equipment — Tools and gear for the work. 10% of what's left · Status: Planned

No totals yet. Dollar amounts appear only after real monthly expenses are measured and sealed.

If you're a member

Members pay for what membership gives them. What's left after costs goes toward these goals. It is not a donation, not a tax write-off and not a share in the land.
